June 6, 2024 - Without qualified ropeway mechanics, lift-served ski areas across the country can't operate, so training a new generation of mechanics for these year-round jobs is vital to snow sports. Colorado Mountain College and Alterra offered over 20 lift mechanics from U.S. resorts an intensive four-week training during late spring. Spencer Wilson, mountain reporter for KCNC CBS Colorado, spent an afternoon at Copper Mountain with the program's most recent cohort.
