1,000 Words: CMC Steamboat receives Sustainable Community Leader award
CMC Professor Becky Edmiston receives Educator of Year
Each year, the Yampa Valley Sustainability Council in Steamboat Springs recognizes businesses and community members for their efforts toward creating a more sustainable future. In a ceremony on Jan. 25, 2024, the YVSC recognized Colorado Mountain College Steamboat Springs for CMC’s commitment to reducing environmental impacts and promoting sustainability across campus and collegewide operations, training the next generation of climate leaders and ecosystem stewards, and helping to define, lead and elevate community climate action initiatives across the Yampa Valley.
In addition, Steamboat campus’s Earth Science and Stewardship Professor Becky Edmiston received YVSC’s 2023 Educator of the Year award. ESS Faculty, Becky Edmiston, awarded 2023 Educator of the Year, recognizing her many local course-based collaborations with Forest Service, Colorado Parks and Wildlife and nonprofit partners.
