1,000 Words: High school state MTB championships Oct. 19-20 at CMC Spring Valley
Colorado High School Cycling League is wrapping up its mountain bike racing season Oct. 19-20 at Colorado Mountain College’s Spring Valley campus. The league is taking to Spring Valley’s trails for the final competition – and lots of teams from throughout Colorado and beyond are vying for top times.
Roaring Fork Valley locals can’t help but notice the influx of over 2,400 people to the area. These championships bring thousands of people to town – student-athletes, their coaches, their families and friends. CMC students, faculty, staff, community members and visitors are welcome to come to Spring Valley to enjoy the spectacle of high school mountain bike racing.
CMC’s Leadville campus has hosted high school league races since 2013 and Colorado Mountain College became an official sponsor in 2015. In 2022, the Spring Valley campus hosted league competition – and the state championships no less. The tradition continued in 2023 and now in 2024, with Spring Valley hosting the state championships.
