Completing 16 weeks of physically, mentally and emotionally grueling coursework and field training, 18 graduates of the Colorado Law Enforcement Training Academy received their diplomas at the Colorado Mountain College commencement ceremony on Friday afternoon.

“Today marks a milestone — one that reflects not just achievement but commitment, resilience and a willingness to step forward in a role that will ask more of you than most careers ever will,” said keynote speaker and New Castle Police Chief Stewart Curry.

The graduates from across central Colorado will now begin an 18-week field training program with their home agency.

The Pitkin County Sheriff’s Office welcomed three new patrol deputies and the Aspen Police Department welcomed three new patrol officers. The Snowmass Village and Basalt police departments will get one new officer each from the graduating class.

The diverse class included seven women and graduates of varying ages, backgrounds and ethnicities.
