Aspen’s Alex Ferreira got it done. The 31-year-old halfpipe skier won the men’s halfpipe skiing final at the 2026 Winter Olympics on Friday in Livigno, Italy.

It’s his third medal in three appearances at the Games. He won silver in his 2018 Olympic debut in Pyeongchang, South Korea, and followed with bronze at the 2022 Beijing Games. The gold completes his medal collection, which had been his ultimate goal. He had previously said this would be his last Olympics.

Ferreira scored 93.75 on his third and final run to win. Finishing second was Estonia’s Henry Sildaru with 93, and claiming bronze was Canada’s Brendan Mackay with 91. Indiana’s Nick Goepper was fourth (89), followed by Winter Park’s Birk Irving in fifth (88) and Great Britain’s Gus Kenworthy in sixth (84.75).

This is the third gold medal in men’s halfpipe skiing history for the U.S. in four Olympics. The sport made its Olympic debut in Sochi 2014, won by Nevada’s David Wise. Wise also won gold in 2018 before New Zealand’s Nico Porteous won in 2022.
