CMC Board of Trustees seeking public input about next college president

March 27, 2024 - The Colorado Mountain College Board of Trustees is seeking feedback from members of the public as they search for the next college president and chief executive officer.

Dr. Carrie Besnette Hauser, one of the most tenured higher education CEOs in Colorado and the longest serving president in Colorado Mountain College history, recently announced her decision to step down in August after nearly 11 years in the role.

Citing the strength and stability of CMC's talented team of staff and faculty, trustees have determined the college is conducting an internal search to identify any current employees qualified to apply for the position. The position is open for internal applicants for 10 days, starting March 27 and ending April 5.

Trustees are asking members of the public to complete a survey to assist them with understanding community priorities pertaining to the next college president. The survey may be completed in either English or Spanish at the CMC Presidential Search webpage. Trustees will also elicit feedback from students, faculty and staff.

Trustees will meet again in April to determine next steps in the search process, with a goal of having a new president in the role by the start of the 2024 fall semester.
