CMC Breckenridge nursing simulation and outdoor skills lab holds sneak peek June 14
June 6, 2023 – For all those curious about the new additions going up at Colorado Mountain College Breckenridge, the campus is hosting a sneak peek at the new nursing simulation and outdoor skills lab on June 14. The public is welcomed and encouraged to tour the new facility and attend the event.
In building the nearly 7,800 square-foot lab, CMC is addressing the growing need to educate and train both nurses and medical technicians in Summit County. The goal is for the lab to be ready for classes for fall 2023.
The nursing simulation lab is a high-fidelity facility that closely mimics a hospital wing, complete with state-of-the-art simulation mannequins, observation rooms and six to eight hospital beds. In addition to providing nursing students with highly technical learning equipment, the lab will allow CMC’s Breckenridge campus to accept more nursing students into the program.
The college is building the outdoor skills lab to train wilderness emergency medical service professionals, plus emergency medical and outdoor education technicians. The lab has a two-story rappelling wall, an ambulance bay and training areas. At capacity, the lab can train up to 425 students per year.
The lab addition came in at an overall cost of $8.5 million, and the CMC Foundation is seeking to raise a remaining $750,000 as construction nears completion. The goal is for the lab to be ready for classes for fall 2023.
The nursing simulation and outdoor skills lab sneak peek will run from 5:30-7:30 p.m. on June 14 at CMC Breckenridge, 107 Denison Placer Road. Appetizers prepared by CMC’s culinary faculty – Executive Chef Kevin Clarke and Executive Chef Travis Smith – will be featured.
