CMC presents the first ‘Rediscovering Common Ground’ community conversation in Salida on April 10
March 29, 2024 – As part of the “Rediscovering Common Ground” series, Colorado Mountain College is presenting a community conversation at Salida Scout Hut on the evening of April 10. The event is part of CMC’s 2024 Common Reader program featuring the Richard Haass bestseller, “The Bill of Obligations: The Ten Habits of Good Citizens.” This nonpartisan event is free and all community members are welcomed and encouraged to attend.
The event’s purpose is to bring together community members, regardless of background or viewpoint, to engage in conversation, to listen and to understand each other around issues of division affecting the country during this national election year. Attendees will practice ideas found in the Bill of Obligations, such as remaining civil, promoting the common good, and staying open to compromise.
Moderated by Dr. Matt Gianneschi, CMC chief operating officer and chief of staff, the evening will open with a video of “The Bill of Obligations”’ author Richard Haass, American diplomat under four presidents. The evening will also include perspectives of local officials and residents.
Complementary copies of “The Bill of Obligations” are at CMC Salida, Kesner Building, 349 E. Ninth Street, Salida and are available at the front desk for pick-up.
“Rediscovering Common Ground,” will run from 5:30-7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 10 at the Salida Scout Hut, 210 E. Sackett Ave., Salida.
