CMC Steamboat Springs to hold commencements on May 2 and 3

Colorado Mountain College graduates will participate in two commencement ceremonies on May 2 and 3. A nurse pinning and commencement will be held at the Steamboat campus on May 2, while the general ceremony will be held at the Steamboat Grand on May 3.

Collegewide, 15 ceremonies total are being held at 11 campuses and additional sites throughout CMC’s 7,500-square-mile district from April 17 through May 5 to celebrate the accomplishments of the college’s graduating class of 2024-25.

Nurse pinning and commencement

Mary Ann Jessee, CMC’s dean of nursing, will give the keynote address at the nurse pinning and commencement ceremony at 3 p.m. on Friday, May 2 in the Allbright Family Auditorium at the Steamboat campus.

Jessee, who holds a doctorate, is a registered nurse and a certified nurse educator. She recently accepted her position at Colorado Mountain College after serving as the assistant dean at Vanderbilt University School of Nursing in Nashville, Tennessee. A recognized leader in nursing education, she focuses on clinical judgment development and curricular innovation. Jessee founded the International Consortium for Outcomes of Nursing Education, a global group of nursing educators and researchers who work together to understand and improve nursing education.

General commencement

The general commencement ceremony will be held at 10:30 a.m., on Saturday, May 3, at the Steamboat Grand. Chet Sisk will give the keynote address.

Sisk is a futurist, author and founder of Universal Basic Resources, a change management company, and Co-Lead International, a nonprofit think tank on leadership. A global speaker and former CEO, he champions the Ubuntu model of connected leadership to help people reclaim agency in a time rapid change. Sisk advises the Colorado State Legislature on AI policy and collaborates with NVIDIA and Arrow Intelligent Solutions. He has presented at the UN, Blue Cross Blue Shield, and universities worldwide, calling for vision, character and cooperation in shaping the future.

The Allbright Family Auditorium is on the third floor, Academic Building, CMC Steamboat Springs, 1275 Crawford Ave., Steamboat Springs.

The Steamboat Grand is at 2300 Mt. Werner Circle, Steamboat Springs.
