CMC to hold Roaring Fork Valley’s commencements April 24, May 1 and 2

Graduates from Colorado Mountain College campuses in Aspen, Carbondale, Spring Valley and Glenwood Springs will participate in commencement ceremonies on April 24, May 1 and May 2.

Across Colorado Mountain College’s 11 campuses, about 2,000 students are expected to graduate this year. The college will host 17 ceremonies, including commencement and program-specific events, across its 7,500-square-mile district from April 24 through May 4.

EMT-Basic and Fire Academy commencement

5 p.m., Friday, April 24
Carbondale & Rural Fire Protection District administration building, 301 Meadowood Dr., Carbondale
Keynote speaker: Carbondale & Rural Fire Protection District Fire Chief Rob Goodwin
Goodwin served the department for over 25 years before becoming fire chief in 2018.

Colorado Law Enforcement Training Academy commencement

1 p.m., Friday, May 1
CMC Spring Valley Field House, 3000 County Road 114, Glenwood Springs
Keynote speaker: New Castle Police Chief Stewart Curry

After nine years as program director of CLETA, Curry moved onto serve with the New Castle Police Department.

Nurse pinning and commencement

9 a.m., Saturday, May 2
CMC Spring Valley Field House, 3000 County Road 114, Glenwood Springs
Keynote speaker: Dr. Cathy Coram, CMC nursing faculty

Coram, who will retire from CMC this year, has been a nurse for 50 years and has been in nursing education for 22 years.

General commencement

12 p.m., Saturday, May 2

Keynote speaker: Michelle Lucero

Lucero is a strategic advisor to Children’s Hospital Colorado, and an attorney with over 25 years of experience in industries such as health care, telecommunications and government.
