Colorado Mountain College Breckenridge and Dillon to hold commencement ceremonies on May 3
April 20, 2024 – Colorado Mountain College Breckenridge and Dillon graduates will participate in two commencement ceremonies, both on May 3.
Collegewide, 12 ceremonies total will be held at 11 locations throughout CMC’s region on May 3, 4 and 6 to celebrate the accomplishments of the college’s graduating class of 2024.
Reflecting CMC’s range of educational offerings, students will receive bachelor's and associate degrees, certificates of occupational proficiency and high school equivalency, general education, adult high school and workforce diplomas. Additionally, regional high school students in CMC’s concurrent enrollment program will walk alongside graduates to receive their college-level certificates and degrees.
Breckenridge nurse pinning and commencement
Health care executive Debbie Welle-Powell will give the keynote address at the nurse pinning and commencement ceremony at 10 a.m., Friday, May 3 in the Finkel Auditorium at the Breckenridge campus.
A member of the CMC President’s Advisory Council, and a Breckenridge resident, Welle-Powell is the former chief population health officer at Essentia Health, a system of 14 hospitals and 1,500 providers in Minnesota, North Dakota and Wisconsin. She received her bachelor’s degree in sociology from Moorhead State University in Minnesota and her master’s in public administration – health care from the University of Colorado Denver. Welle-Powell serves on many national and local boards, including the Summit Community Care Clinic in Frisco, and is an adjunct faculty member at the University of Colorado’s Executive MBA program.
The Finkel Auditorium is at CMC Breckenridge, 107 Denison Placer Road in Breckenridge.
Breckenridge and Dillon general commencement
The Breckenridge and Dillon campus’s general commencement ceremony will be held at 5 p.m., also on Friday, May 3, at Beaver Run Resort in Breckenridge. Heidi Humphreys, executive director of the Colorado Department of Revenue, will give the keynote address.
Humphreys has a history with Colorado Mountain College and Summit County. From 2002-2005, she served as a workforce training coordinator at the CMC Summit campus.
Gov. Polis appointed Humphreys to her current role at the Colorado Department of Revenue in September 2023. Prior to that, she served as the deputy executive director at CDOR since 2015.
As executive director, she is responsible for overseeing Colorado’s tax division, the Division of Motor Vehicles, the Colorado State Lottery and several other divisions. The department has approximately 1,700 employees and brings in over $20 billion in fees and taxes for the state. Humphreys earned a master’s degree in organizational management and change from Colorado State University and her bachelor’s degree in education of the hearing impaired from Texas Women’s University.
