Michael Finkel to launch new book, ‘The Art Thief,’ at CMC Breckenridge

June 29, 2023 – Save the date on July 17 when Colorado Mountain College ArtShare will present a free book release presentation featuring New York Times best-selling author Michael Finkel highlighting his new nonfiction book, “The Art Thief.”

“The Art Thief” is the true-life story of Frenchman Stéphane Breitwieser, who, between 1995 and 2001, stole hundreds of pieces of artwork from nearly 200 museums and galleries worth an estimated $1.4 billion. His goal was not to sell these works, but to keep them in his bedroom in his mother’s house, to treasure them for himself.

For each book bought at Next Page bookstore in Frisco or at the CMC presentation, a charitable contribution of $30 will be made to one of the following nonprofits of the purchaser’s choice:

  1. CMC Foundation
  2. FIRC
  3. Summit Foundation
  4. Summit Community Care Clinic
  5. National Repertory Orchestra
  6. Keystone Science School
  7. Breckenridge Film Festival
  8. Education Foundation of the Summit

Finkel’s presentation, which will run from 6 to 7:30 p.m., will be at the Eileen and Paul Finkel Auditorium at CMC Breckenridge, 107 Denison Placer Road, Breckenridge. Light refreshments will be served. For more information, contact Heidi Kunzek at hkunzek@coloradomtn.edu or Stephanie Beste at sbeste@coloradomtn.edu.
