Ribbon cuttings planned for CMC’s new student apartments
Aug. 21, 2023 – Colorado Mountain College is hosting a series of ribbon cuttings for four new student apartment buildings at the college’s campuses at Spring Valley at Glenwood Springs, Breckenridge, Vail Valley at Edwards and Steamboat Springs.
The apartments are part of a $45 million initiative to provide affordable housing to CMC students. Due to the scarcity and high cost of housing in the mountain resort communities that CMC serves, the college has constructed four duplicate apartment buildings at four campus locations.
Designed primarily for upper-division students who live and work in these mountain communities year-round, each building has up to 36 rental apartments, with a combination of studio and two-bedroom units. Each apartment features kitchens, bathrooms and living spaces, and rents are approximately 10% to 15% below market rates.
The college is hosting these ribbon cuttings at the following dates and times:
- CMC Spring Valley, 3000 County Road 114, Glenwood Springs: 3 p.m., Aug. 23
- CMC Breckenridge, 107 Denison Placer Road, Breckenridge: 3 p.m., Sept. 14
- CMC Vail Valley, 150 Miller Ranch Road, Edwards: 2 p.m., Sept. 19
- CMC Steamboat Springs, 1275 Crawford Ave., time TBA, Oct. 30
Spring Valley’s ribbon cutting will also include tours of the campus’s nursing simulation lab, Breckenridge will hold a second ribbon cutting for the campus’s new nursing simulation and outdoor skills lab and Steamboat’s ribbon cutting will include tours of the campus’s new prototype lab.
The public is welcome and encouraged to attend any and all of these events.
