‘Three Viewings’ encores at Wheeler Opera House

CMC’s Sopris Theatre Company performances run Jan. 29-30

Sopris Theatre Company at Colorado Mountain College will present two encore performances of “Three Viewings,” by Jeffrey Hatcher, at Aspen’s Wheeler Opera House on Jan. 29-30. Set in a small Midwestern funeral parlor three darkly funny and touching stories explore love, money and loss. Because of COVID-19 health protocols, the company performed the shows virtually last year, so this will mark the first time the actors will perform the play in front of a live audience.

“Three Viewings” focuses on Emil, an infatuated man played by Michael Monroney, who goes to extraordinary lengths to win a woman’s heart; Paige Ulmer, a jewelry thief named Mac with a hidden secret who reclaims a family heirloom; and Virginia, a widow played by Wendy Perkins, who confronts the repercussions of her late husband’s wheeling and dealing.

Directed by Brad Moore, “Three Viewings” will run Jan. 29 at 7 p.m., which will feature a post-show conversation with the cast and crew; and Jan. 30 at 4 p.m. at the Wheeler Opera House, 320 E. Hyman Ave., Aspen. All Wheeler health protocols will be followed regarding COVID-19.
