Nepal study abroad

Colorado Mountain College's study abroad program traveled to Nepal in 2021; the program is gearing up for a 21-day trip in November and December 2022. On Sept. 15, mountaineer and author Dr. Jon Kedrowski will describe CMC’s upcoming trip during a free, multimedia presentation at the Steamboat campus.

Mountaineer, author Dr. Jon Kedrowski to present free multimedia event

Always wanted to go to Nepal? This winter, you may have your chance when Colorado Mountain College’s study abroad program spends 21 days studying Nepal’s geography and environmental science, experiencing the language, cooking, farming and culture, and exploring the villages below Mount Everest with a possible trek to Everest’s basecamp.

CMC’s upcoming trip to Nepal, from Nov.30-Dec. 19, is just one focus of a multimedia presentation Dr. Jon Kedrowski will share on Sept. 15 at the Steamboat campus. Kedrowski – a mountain geographer, mountaineer, author and CMC adjunct faculty member who has summitted Everest three times, guided five expeditions to Everest and guided 13 hiking and climbing trips to the Himalaya in the last 10 years – will present a slideshow of photographs from his recently released book, “Classic Colorado Hikes,” published by Colorado Mountain Club Press. Kedrowski will follow with photos from last year’s study abroad Nepal trip and will finish up with a Q and A about climbing Everest.

The evening will begin at 6 p.m. on Sept. 15, in the Allbright Auditorium, third floor of the Academic Center at CMC Steamboat Springs, 1275 Crawford Ave., Steamboat. The event is free and the community is encouraged to attend.
