To the Colorado Mountain College family – students, employees, community members, partners, donors, alumni, and friends:

These past few weeks have been challenging for all of us. Together, we have adapted to ever-evolving guidance and directives from national and state officials concerning COVID-19. These are truly unprecedented times.

Many of you are anxious. We all are. However, I want to assure you that we are making every effort to address your concerns and provide timely answers to your questions.

Last week, we announced a plan for how the college would operate through April 12. Yesterday, the state of Colorado issued orders prohibiting gatherings of 10 or more people through April 18 and the suspension of face-to-face instruction in K-12 schools through April 17. Consistent with this guidance, we have decided to continue remote-only instruction through the end of the spring semester. Additionally, all CMC campuses will remain closed to the public through May 1. Only CMC students and employees may access the campuses through May 1.

As a result of this decision, we ask that students residing in the residence halls plan to vacate these facilities unless the residence hall is their primary home. For information for residential students who need to return to campus to collect their belongings, please see Note To Residence Hall Students.

And, as announced earlier this week, spring 2020 commencement ceremonies have been canceled. We are exploring alternative ways to celebrate our students’ achievements, and hope to share that information soon. Similarly, the college’s annual gathering of all CMC employees (CMC Days), currently scheduled for May 6-7, is unlikely as originally planned. Please look for updates and adjustments soon.

We have teams of our talented professionals exploring options for teaching and learning, as well as ways that Colorado Mountain College can support local businesses, nonprofits, and displaced employees with short courses, financial aid opportunities, and other resources. Rest assured, CMC will continue to innovate and operate in the best interests of our students, our team members, and the communities we serve.

Please check back regularly to our web page to ask questions and to learn about our ongoing response to the COVID-19 virus, at Coronavirus Updates & Information. Let’s also support each other, stay positive and hopeful, and do our part to ensure the health and safety of our beloved mountain resort communities.

My sincerest thanks before I head off, once again, to wash my hands – with warm water and soap!
