COVID Vaccine Update

On Tuesday, April 27, 2021, the Colorado Department of Higher Education issued a statement regarding public colleges and universities requiring COVID-19 vaccines for students enrolling this fall. In that press release, Colorado’s Governor Jared Polis offered his support to institutions that choose to mandate the vaccine.

Colorado Mountain College has always prioritized the health and safety of its students, faculty and staff, and community members and will continue to do so as it carefully considers its expectations for students and employees returning to campus in fall 2021.

As an open-access institution with a diverse student population and multiple campuses spread across a large geographic region, CMC works closely with a wide array of community health professionals, county health departments, local hospitals, the Colorado Department of Public Health and Education, and its elected board of trustees to make the best decisions for the students we serve and the people we employ.

As we have consistently done over the past many months, CMC will continue to strongly recommend that all members of the college community seek out and receive a COVID-19 vaccine and practice the five commitments to containment. These strategies have resulted in very low cases of COVID-19 on our campuses and among our employees.

Similar to hosting flu shot clinics and health fairs, the college will make every effort to promote the COVID-19 vaccine this summer and fall, make it readily available to residents of our mountain communities, and strive for broad based immunization among our campus populations.

CMC already requires certain vaccines for students living in our residence halls, participating in athletics, and enrolled in health care and public safety programs. The COVID-19 vaccine will be included in these requirements for these students enrolling this fall. CMC will develop a process for verifying COVID-19 vaccination in accordance with applicable legal and health guidelines. If you have questions, please read our COVID Vaccine FAQs.

We invite all CMC students, employees, and residents of our mountain communities to responsibly contribute to the health and safety of themselves and others through their personal choices, behaviors and actions.

Please check back to this site for updates on CMC’s COVID-19 policy or send a question or comment to:  covid19@coloradomtn.edu.
