First-generation CMC student completes accounting internship with Holy Cross Energy

CMC BSBA student Mayte Milan at her internship at Holy Cross EnergyMayte Milan, a student in Colorado Mountain College’s Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (BSBA)program, recently completed an internship with the accounting team at Holy Cross Energy, where she is also currently employed as a member services representative. Originally from Basalt, Colorado, and a first-generation college student, Mayte said her educational journey has been driven by a strong motivation to continue learning and growing professionally. During her internship, she led a project focused on improving the work order process between engineering and accounting—mapping workflows, identifying gaps, and strengthening how projects move from initiation through completion and into the financial system.

The internship allowed Mayte to apply classroom learning to real-world business operations while expanding her experience beyond her current role at Holy Cross Energy. Through the experience, she developed skills in financial processes, cross-functional collaboration, operational efficiency, and strategic problem-solving. Outside of work and school, she enjoys staying active, spending time with family, and recently discovered a love for reading. After graduating from CMC, Mayte plans to continue exploring opportunities while keeping an open mind about where her experience and interests may lead.
