Jay Beltran: I Got Everything I Needed at CMC

Jay Beltran is the Marketing Specialist for Six Productions, a national premier, live event production company. Her journey began in 2019 at the Isaacson School at Colorado Mountain College, where she became the first in her Hispanic family to attend college.

With the wide range of technical skills needed for jobs in the Digital Media field, Jay says, “I got everything I needed at CMC – graphic design, camera ops, video, marketing. Everything I studied, I am implementing in my day to day tasks.”

After earning her associate degree in digital media at CMC in 2021, she pursued her bachelor’s degree in Leadership & Management at the college.

Before she even had her bachelor’s degree in hand, her internship through CMC helped her network with Six Productions.

“I was designing the lower thirds (on-screen graphic captions) for the Aspen Ideas Festival when I met Six’s co-owner Michael Burns.” Burns provided her the opportunity to work as a LiveStream Tech for the event. Impressed with her work, Burns offered her a job on the spot which she enthusiastically jumped on.

A year into her work at Six Productions, she got a promotion which put her at the helm of the marketing department, handling all the social media for the company, plus its website content creation, analytics and Google profile. And her job roles are expanding by the day. She’s adding in video work, having recently directed, filmed, and edited a company-wide commercial showcasing their services. “It’s always been a dream of mine to be a filmmaker, and who would have thought I’d be doing that at the age of 23?” she exclaims.

“CMC has been the foundation of my success and has provided me with the networking connections for entering my field,” Jay says. She feels grateful to CMC staff and professors who helped her build character and enhance her work ethic.
