CMC to extend distance learning through summer semester
Colorado Mountain College to extend distance learning through summer semester
In alignment with local, state and national precautions being taken in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, Colorado Mountain College will offer credit classes exclusively via distance learning during the summer semester.
Registration will begin online on April 15. Contact your campus directly to schedule an advising appointment, which will be conducted via phone or virtual meetings. Summer classes will begin May 18 and throughout the summer semester.
In addition to offering credit classes that are part of associate and bachelor’s degree programs, the college is teaching via distance learning all English as a second language and GED (high school equivalency) courses. By no later than mid-summer, the college will consider public health conditions and state and local guidelines to determine whether it is possible to offer outdoor education and other field courses later in the summer.
This adjustment is an extension of the college’s decision to provide instruction only via distance learning through the end of spring semester, because of COVID-19 precautions. No face-to-face classes are currently being held at any CMC campus location.
CMC is currently considering a suite of non-credit and community education courses that could be available online for the summer. The college also seeks to assist students without access to computers or reliable internet service.
“Colorado Mountain College continues to determine the most reasonable, accessible and responsible ways to continue the high-quality, dynamic and innovative learning environment students have come to expect, and appreciates the overwhelming support of its students, community members, donors and partners,” said Dr. Kathryn Regjo, vice president of academic affairs.
The campuses will not mail summer class schedules but will continue to provide class information on the college’s website. Please visit coloradomtn.edu/register for more information and to register and coloradomtn.edu/covid19 for updates related to the coronavirus.
