Derek Johnston is the program director for the photography program in the Isaacson School at Colorado Mountain College. Derek’s fine art landscape work has been exhibited and collected throughout the United States including the Museum of Contemporary Photography in Chicago, IL. He has been honored with a Colorado Council on the Arts Grant in Visual Arts and is included in the critically acclaimed anthology, Photography’s Multiple Roles: Art, Market, Document, Science, published by the Museum of Contemporary Photography.

Derek was awarded CMC Spring Valley Faculty of the Year in 2015. He is a member of the Society for Photographic Education and the American Society for Media Photographers.

I am a photographer, photo and video educator in the Isaacson School, and the gallery director for the CMC Art Share Gallery at Morgridge Commons. I am the faculty advisor to the Fly Fishing Club and Photo Club at CMC. My photography work has appeared in a variety of commercial, editorial, and fine art contexts. Personal Interests

Cat Schmitz is an award winning and Webby nominated art director, creative technologist, and storyteller who is interested in using design and technology to create more opportunities for learning.

Schmitz has studied how games can teach people about policies and laws, how AI can help kindergarten students learn better, and how chatbots can educate us about their history of development. She designed prototypes, interactive experiences, physical products, and games for companies such as Sesame Street, the History Channel, Verizon, New York University, Meta, Google, and more.

Most recently, Schmitz was the Art Director for digital experiences at Sesame Street, a Visiting Assistant Professor at New York University, and the founder of her own design studio.

Personal Interests

Stephanie Woods is originally from the Detroit area, relocating to the Roaring Fork Valley in 2008. She has spent the last 15 years teaching CTE, visual arts and graphic design courses.

An avid designer and artist, Stephanie has been on a quest designing curriculum that combines technology with traditional techniques.
