Fire Science: Driver Operator Certificate Certificate

Learn to correctly and safely operate and maintain fire apparatus including pumpers and aerials. Gain an understanding of firefighting hydraulics, practical and legal aspects of apparatus operation both on the road and at emergency scenes.

Get hands-on instruction with various type pumps commonly found in fire service apparatus. This curriculum follows National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) standards and State of Colorado guidelines for driver operator.

Students must demonstrate college-level proficiency in composition, reading, and critical evaluation of written documents. For more details, please see the Academic Placement and Testing section.

Graduates of the program will receive a Certificate of Occupational Proficiency in Driver Operator from Colorado Mountain College. This certificate is available at Colorado Mountain College in Vail Valley at Edwards. Some courses may require distance learning modalities.
