English Acquisition for Academic Purposes Certificate

Learn college English and get ready for your future

This program is for students who are English language learners and want to improve their English for taking college classes. The English Acquisition for Academic Purposes classes and communications class in this program will help you get ready for taking more college level classes. You will learn high level reading, writing, listening, and speaking skills to help you feel more confident in college.

You will also earn college credit while you study English. This certificate connects to other certificates at CMC and can help you earn a degree in your desired field.

One of the classes in this program can transfer to other colleges in Colorado.

Colorado Mountain College is the only college in the state that offers this special certificate for learning English. Our teachers understand how to support students who are learning English for college classes. We also offer help with choosing classes, and many students can get a lower tuition rate.

Adults currently in CMC’s bridge or ESL programs at the advanced or intensive levels
English learners in our mountain communities who want to start college
English learners in high school or concurrent enrollment students who are English learners
Anyone who has learned English as an additional language and wants extra support while beginning college classes

Special Tuition Rate for English Learners

If you are 23 or older and have lived in the CMC area for at least one year, you may qualify for in-district tuition—even if you are not a US citizen, through the Continuing Opportunity Tuition Discount.
