Transfer Guidelines: Colorado Mountain College (CMC) Bachelor of Applied Science (BAS) in Integrated Media

This transfer pathway is designed for Pike’s Peak State College (PPSC) students who have completed an Associate Degree of Applied Science (AAS) degree in Broadcast and Electronic Media, Multimedia Graphic Design, Music Audio Technology or Professional Photography as well as PPSC students who have completed an Associate Degree (AA) with a Designation in Communication or Journalism.

Students graduate with the professional portfolio and real-world experience they need to thrive in dynamic careers across business, nonprofit, outdoor, technology, and creative industries.

This unique transfer pathway may allow students to complete a bachelor’s degree while maintaining residence in Colorado Springs to support GI Bill® housing benefits. Students who are considering using VA Education Benefits while in this program should contact the Colorado Mountain College Coordinator for Military Services for more details on the college process and eligibility requirements.

BAS Program Overview

Flexible Learning and Scheduling

CMC’s Integrated Media BAS is designed to support students balancing work, life, and location.

  • Attend in person at Colorado Mountain College or participate remotely.

To support students pursuing employment and professional goals while they complete their degree:

  • All IMD-BAS courses are scheduled in the late afternoon and evening
  • The program is compatible with full-time work, freelance practice, and internships

Note: Some upper-level production courses include on-location intensives that require in-person participation. These intensives are typically scheduled over a weekend, and dates are published in the course catalog prior to registration to allow distance students to plan accordingly.

Applied Learning Through the iWorks Agency Model

Many upper-division courses in the Integrated Media BAS are structured around iWorks, the Isaacson School’s student-run, faculty-mentored creative agency.

Within this model, students:

  • Work on applied projects with real clients and community partners
  • Collaborate in interdisciplinary creative teams
  • Practice professional workflows such as project intake, production planning, and delivery
  • Develop portfolio-ready work while completing a bachelor’s degree.

Participation in iWorks supports students in translating academic learning into professional experience.

Transfer Guidelines

This transfer pathway is designed for PPSC students who have completed an Associate Degree of Applied Science (AAS) degree in Broadcast and Electronic Media, Multimedia Graphic Design, or Professional Photography as well as PPSC students who have completed an Associate Degree (AA) with Designation in Communication or Journalism.

Credits completed for these PPSC programs are fully transferable and have been approved to fulfill Associate Degree prerequisite requirements for CMC’s BAS in Integrated Media.

Depending on prior coursework, PPSC transfer students may be asked to complete specific bridge or leveling courses to ensure alignment with BAS expectations including these foundational CMC courses or their equivalent at PPSC:

In addition, PPSC students must demonstrate proficiency in one or more digital media-authoring discipline(s) focused on visual communication.

This requirement is fully addressed by PPSC coursework for AAS degrees in Broadcast and Electronic Media, Multimedia Graphic Design, and Professional Photography.

Visual communication media authoring proficiency for PPSC students who have completed the AA with a designation in Communication or Journalism will be determined by academic transcript and creative portfolio review.

Final transfer credit decisions are made on an individual basis by the CMC Integrated Media Program Director in coordination with academic advising.

Planning Your Transfer Pathway

Because bridge or leveling coursework requirements may vary, students are encouraged to discuss their specific coursework and goals prior to enrollment.

A transfer consultation can help:

  • Clarify how associate-level credits apply to the BAS
  • Identify any recommended bridge coursework
  • Establish a realistic timeline for degree completion
  • Align the program with career or professional objectives
