Nurse Aide Training at Colorado Mountain College

What information needs to be provided in order to register the class?

• Proof of being at least 17 years of age on or before the first day of class
• Completed CMC Admissions Application

What information needs to be provided within the first four weeks of class?
Exceptions to any of the below items should be discussed with primary instructor and will be dependent on clinical site standards.

• Background check submitted online (instructor will provide information)
• Proof successful completion of drug screen (instructor will provide information-varies by clinical site)
• Immunization records including proof of 2 MMR vaccinations (or titer)
• Proof of current season flu shot
• Proof of fully vaccinated against COVID-19
• Proof of health insurance (dependent on clinical site location)
• Proof of 2 varicella (chickenpox) vaccinations (or titer)
• Proof of negative 2-step TB tests and/or 1 QuantiFERON gold or 1 chest x-ray (any choice within the past year, varies by clinical site)
• Proof of 3 Hepatitis B vaccinations or titer or signed rejection
• Proof of Tetanus vaccination (within the past 10 years)
• Proof of current CPR certification at the Healthcare Provider level
• Signed Colorado Mountain College Waiver (instructor will provide form)
• Signed Worker’s Compensation Form (instructor will provide form)
• Signed HIPAA Agreement (instructor will provide form)
• Signed Student Policy Manual (instructor will provide)

Upon completing the Nurse Aide Certificate program, CMC students will be able to:

1. Ability to form relationships on a one-to-one basis with clients through competent communication and interaction.
2. Demonstrate sensitivity to clients’ emotional, social, and mental health needs through skillful, directed interactions.
3. Ability to assist clients in attaining and maintaining independence.
4. Exhibit behavior in support and promotion of clients’ rights.
5. Demonstrate observational and documentation skills needed in the assessment of clients’ health, physical condition, and well-being.
6. Demonstrate an awareness of the Colorado Nurse Aide Practice Act.
7. Demonstrate proficiency in all nurse aide skills by passing the skills exam and have a course average high enough to take the National Nurse Aide Assessment Program (NNAAP) Exam.
