Under the direction of the Director of Recreation & Events, the Recreation Assistant is responsible for providing customer service to the Field House members and customers during daily operations of the Field House. This position will provide direction to customers regarding departmental offerings. The Recreation Assistant is also responsible for monitoring the fitness center and weight room areas in order to help ensure the safety of patrons; cleaning and upkeep of equipment; and enforcing facility policies.

Pre-requisites for Position (Qualifications Standards)
Current certification in American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer (American Red Cross Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers is an approved substitute) and Red Cross First Aid OR the ability to obtain both certifications before regular shifts are scheduled. Employees may be hired and scheduled for training shifts without required certifications, but cannot be scheduled to work regular shifts unless all certifications are current.
Ability to attend a Recreation Assistant training and prove a thorough understanding of department policies, procedures, and processes. Ability to assess customer requests and act within the scope of the responsibilities according to College standards and procedures. Good oral, written, organizational and multi-tasking skills. Ability to work early mornings, evenings, weekends, and /or college breaks. Ability to lift 50 pounds.
