Sopris Residence Hall at Spring Valley
Live and learn on-campus
Life in Sopris Hall is amazing. Located in a beautiful mountain valley just outside of Glenwood Springs, Sopris Hall puts you right next door to your classes and beautiful views of majestic Mt. Sopris. Among the campus amenities we offer are free campus parking, convenient and healthy dining plan options, and an on-campus disc golf course, soccer fields, a theatre and fitness center. Academic tutoring, an on campus library and other support services are also available.
Living on campus helps you become an active member of the CMC community and keeps you in the loop about student organizations and great campus events such as open mic night, bowling trips, and hot springs pool parties. You’ll be close to ski areas, wilderness, and the incredible mountain biking, backpacking and nordic skiing available near Glenwood Springs.
Room and Roommate Assignments
Most residents will be placed in a double occupancy room. For the Spring 2025 semester, your room number and your roommate’s contact information will be sent to your CMC email address on Monday, January 6.
For students requesting a single room, there is an additional charge of $1575 for the semester. Single rooms are limited and will be confirmed 1 week prior to the start of the semester based on building occupancy. See Housing Costs.
If a single room is not available, CMC will match you with a roommate and your roommate’s contact information will be sent to your CMC email address.
Move-in Dates Spring 2025
New students will move-in on Thursday, January 9 from 1-3pm. New students are required to attend a Mandatory Hall Meeting from 7-8pm on Thursday night.
CLETA will move-in on Sunday, January 12 from 1-3pm.
Fall residents may return to the residence hall after 12pm on Saturday, January 11.
For all the details see CMC Spring Valley New Student Orientation
Transportation to Campus for Move-In
For new students arriving to Glenwood Springs by Amtrak or Bustang, the Office of Residence Life will pick students up in town on Thursday, January 9. Students must arrive before 3pm. Arrangements must be made one week in advance. This service is for students only; if you are traveling with your family, please book a rental car at the airport.
Aspen Airport (ASE): Take the “BRT Glenwood” bus on RFTA from the Aspen airport to “Carbondale Park & Ride” stop. A CMC van will pick students up there. The bus ride is 40 minutes and costs $4. Students will check into the residence hall upon their arrival to campus.
Grand Junction (GJT), Eagle/Vail (EGE) & Denver International Airport (DEN): For students traveling via Amtrak, a CMC van will pick students up at the Glenwood Springs Train Station upon their arrival. For students traveling via Bustang, a CMC van will pick students up at the “West Glenwood Park & Ride” stop. Students will check into the residence hall upon their arrival to campus.
We recommend that you research ground transportation prior to booking your airline ticket. Also, Amtrak & Bustang does not leave from any airport; a transfer will be required.
Go West Transportation is a ground transportation service from multiple airports that has recently expanded to the Roaring Fork Area. Because this is a newer service, we recommend that students give them a call to discuss their travel plans.
