Receive up to $4,800 per year to help pay for college
Start at Colorado Mountain College, stay at CMC or transfer to a four-year college to graduate. Along with financial support, Summit County first generation students receive:
- One-on-One Mentoring
- Academic Coaching
- Degree and Career Counseling
- Financial Navigation
- College and Transfer Navigation
- Other Additional Support Services
Award
Scholarships are given up to $1,100 for freshman and sophomore year and up to $4,800 for junior and senior year through The Summit Foundation.

Do I qualify for the Mountain Scholars Program?
- First generation (neither parent has completed a four-year degree)
- Local to Summit County
- Start at Colorado Mountain College (CMC) for at least one year
What’s expected of Mountain Scholar students to receive the scholarship?
- Meet with community mentor one-on-one at least once a month
- Provide updates and set goals with mentor and CMC Staff
- Required to maintain a minimum GPA of 2.5
- Enrolled in college at CMC or transfer school
