Academic Support at Colorado Mountain College
Learning labs, ESL, developmental education — CMC is here to help every student succeed
Research is clear: students that seek help early in the semester are more likely to succeed. Our early alert system helps identify students and the classes where they may need extra help.
Your instructor and academic advisor can help you find the right academic support you need.
The Developmental Education program is designed to help you prepare and get the most from your college education. When you enter, you will be assessed on your academic aptitude in three areas: math, reading, and writing. This placement test will match your abilities to the courses that work best for you and help you increase your academic skills.
English as a Second Language Program / ESL
ESL is designed for non-English-speaking students who want to improve their skills in reading, writing, speaking, and listening in English. The emphasis is on life skills needed for adults living and working in the CMC service area. Please contact the nearest CMC campus for class schedule information.
General Educational Development / GED
GED test preparation is also offered at many CMC campuses so that you may prepare for the GED test through coursework to earn a high school diploma. The GED is offered every month. Contact the nearest CMC campus for GED test dates and times.

You work at your own pace and level in small groups or one-on-one with tutors or instructors who specialize in the areas you need help in.
