Staci L. Dickerson “Ocular Patterns” Art Show
Come to the reception for Staci Dickerson, well known award winning artist who is a 40+ year resident of Carbondale and the Roaring Fork Valley
What does the eye see, what is the eye attracted to, what captures the attention of the eye, what are the ocular patterns of the non-voluntary eye movement?
When creating an abstract painting, I curiously follow the fluctuating nature of my eye and the ongoing discerning sense of chaotic order of my inner, intuitive voice as I apply layer upon layer of paint to the surface.
I explore the use of shapes, color, texture and differences as tools to design an artwork devoid of object, of subject, of projection or referential stimuli.
I simply want the viewer’s eye to move around the composition, to thoughtfully experience and respond to the painting; to just notice what the eye notices. This noticing, is an invitation to the viewer to experience their own, “ocular patterns.”
