A native New Yorker, Cynthia spent 27 years on Wall Street. She worked in a variety of investment banks and financial guarantors in such areas as asset management, municipal bond trading, public finance marketing, private client retail sales, corporate communications, and new financial advisor training. During her professional career Cynthia has worked with EF Hutton, Shearson-Lehman, General Electric Capital Corp, MBIA, PaineWebber, and UBS.

Cynthia found her passion for teaching and learning as an adjunct professor and curriculum advisor at the City University of New York business school, Baruch College. She served as an adjunct professor at CMC’s Edwards campus before moving on to a full-time faculty role at the CMC Roaring Forks locations. She recently transferred back to the Vail Valley at Edwards campus, as the first full-time business faculty member at this location, and is looking forward to building the business degree programs there.

In addition to her teaching pursuits, Cynthia advises a small Native American owned consulting firm, OrgScience, Inc., in Washington, DC. Cynthia is a member of both the Women’s Foundation of Colorado (WFCO) and the Academy of Management (AoM). She has also served on the Arrowhead at Vail community board.

About

Originally from Ohio, Susanna’s developed an interest in multicultural learning after spending a year of undergraduate studies in language and culture in France. Her business and management career took place in New York City working for the United Nations, General Electric, Scholastic Inc. and the New York City Police Department in research, financial analysis, and budgeting.

Then Susanna spent six years overseas contributing to economic and community development in Botswana with Peace Corps and the Botswana Ministry of Education and in Bulgaria with Peace Corps. She also provided financial training for nonprofit and governmental officials in short assignments with a U.S. AID subcontractor in Chad and Madagascar.

Returning to the United States, Susanna found her passion for teaching and learning at Colorado Mountain College. Susanna developed and teaches courses in launching new ventures, small business management and planning, accounting, budget management, corporate social responsibility, and cultural diversity in business.

Drawn to cultural heritage, stewardship of natural resources, and community change, Susanna is a member of the Chaffee County Heritage Area Advisory Board and the League of Women Voters of Chaffee County. Susanna’s research and publications focus on the experience of teaching college curriculum for incarcerated populations and on the role of civic engagement for community college students.

Steven’s work experience includes serving as an adjunct professor teaching at Colorado Mountain College’s Leadville campus, Adams State University, School of Business and American Intercontinental University, Online.  He has served as a Research Scientist in Hydrology, Water Resources and Lecturer in Agricultural and Resource Economics at the University of Arizona and was an Assistant Professor in the Department of Economics at the University of Tennessee.

Perry is originally from the East Coast, and has lived in Steamboat since 2001.  He received his bachelor’s degree in economics and finance from the University of Pennsylvania (Wharton School of Business) and an MBA from the University of Chicago, Booth School of Business, in finance and marketing.  As a life-long learner, he returned to college to finish accounting to become a licensed CPA, thanks to Franklin University and Pat Turner at CMC!  Since becoming a CPA in 2009, he has taught accounting, economics and finance most recently as department head of business at Western Wyoming Community College in Rock Springs.

Perry comes to CMC with 30 years of business experience, across a wide range of organizations.  His most extensive corporate stint was 17 years with American Express in New York and Toronto.  His last position there was head of global budgeting; other positions involved bond financing, foreign exchange, strategic planning, division head of financial management, and the treasurer role for the Canadian business.  Perry has also worked for a wide range of other organizations including Andersen Consulting (now Accenture), the International Erosion Control Association, Western Slope Accounting Group, and Catamount Ranch and Club all in professional capacities.  He was also owner/operator of a Steamboat-based building products business for five years.

Outside of business and teaching, Perry is married with an adult age daughter.  His outside interests include wine tasting, biking, downhill skiing and gardening.  He has been involved in Kiwanis, Chamber Associations, continuing education, and sustainability volunteer activities.  Academically he keeps engaged through continuing professional education in accounting, and voracious reading.  Current academic areas of interest are behavioral economics and the Great Recession.  He said, “I will be totally focused on ensuring the academic success of the BSBA program at Alpine.  It’s great to become part of such an exciting venture.  I know our students will find CMC’s program to provide a personal, hands-on and very practical experience.  That’s my commitment to them and contract with them.”

At CMC Perry focuses on accounting and finance, but is also involved in marketing, economics and human resources.  He also works doing tax accounting part-time for a local public accounting firm.
