Personal Interests

My personal interests are serving the community and informing underrepresented groups of the myriad of educational opportunities that can lead to workforce knowledge, skills, and success. As a higher education leader it is my goal to help students achieve academic success with completion of a degree.

Family

My beautiful family is from Mexico, and I am a first generation American. I have a 23-year old son, a Texas A&M University graduate, and he is a 2nd Lieutenant in pilot training serving in the United States Air Force.

Wife, Celesta, two teenage boys, Matt and Jake.

Personal Interests

All forms of skiing: alpine, ski mountaineering, backcountry, nordic, racing, etc. Mountain biking, mountaineering, hiking, fly fishing and trail running. I also enjoy speaking Spanish, traveling, reading, public affairs, politics and policy and connecting with diverse cultures.

PERSONAL INTERESTS

Beyond higher education, I’m focused first on my family - wife, and two kids. Fitness and outdoor sports are very important to me - I enjoy working out at the gym, mountain biking or gravel-road cycling, and skiing. Down-time I enjoy learning about human motivation, and performance optimization strategies. Philosophically, I can integrate these concepts with leadership work at the college. I’m way into sports and probably watch too much basketball, football, and pro cycling.

PROGRAMS

Certified course leader with the American Institute of Avalanche Research and Education, and a professional member of the American Avalanche Association. Teach Avalanche Education courses for CMC.
