My personal interests are serving the community and informing underrepresented groups of the myriad of educational opportunities that can lead to workforce knowledge, skills, and success. As a higher education leader it is my goal to help students achieve academic success with completion of a degree.
My beautiful family is from Mexico, and I am a first generation American. I have a 23-year old son, a Texas A&M University graduate, and he is a 2nd Lieutenant in pilot training serving in the United States Air Force.
Wife, Celesta, two teenage boys, Matt and Jake.
All forms of skiing: alpine, ski mountaineering, backcountry, nordic, racing, etc. Mountain biking, mountaineering, hiking, fly fishing and trail running. I also enjoy speaking Spanish, traveling, reading, public affairs, politics and policy and connecting with diverse cultures.
Beyond higher education, I’m focused first on my family - wife, and two kids. Fitness and outdoor sports are very important to me - I enjoy working out at the gym, mountain biking or gravel-road cycling, and skiing. Down-time I enjoy learning about human motivation, and performance optimization strategies. Philosophically, I can integrate these concepts with leadership work at the college. I’m way into sports and probably watch too much basketball, football, and pro cycling.
