Over 15,000 students attend CMC annually, and 40% of degree-seeking students earn a certificate or degree every year. The college’s Latinx enrollment has doubled in six years to 28%, making CMC a federally designated Hispanic Serving Institution (HSI). CMC courses are highly personal and many are highly experiential by design, each with a maximum registration of 25 students.

Colorado Mountain College campuses are located in Aspen, Carbondale, Breckenridge, Dillon, Steamboat Springs, Glenwood Springs, Glenwood Springs-Spring Valley, Leadville, Rifle, the Vail Valley, and Salida. Of these locations, three are residential—Spring Valley, Leadville, and Steamboat Springs — and students in Breckenridge have access to college-owned off-campus housing. CMC campuses are close-knit communities, on average serving between 1,000 – 2,000 students.

The majority of the college’s financial support comes from local property taxes, not tuition or state revenues.  Consequently, CMC is uniquely positioned to be entrepreneurial, nimble, mission-focused, and responsive to community and workforce needs. The college’s Central Services administrative office, which provides administrative support to all campus locations, is located in historic downtown Glenwood Springs, the town from which CMC originally launched in 1965.

The position

Under the direction of the Director of Student Life and Housing and the Residence Life Coordinator, the Residence Life Assistant Coordinator is responsible for varied administrative and programmatic duties in support of the Residence Life program. This position assists in emergency and incident response within the Residence Hall, as well as serving in an on-call rotation.

*This is a .80 term position for an academic year, August through May. The position is required to live in the residence hall and will receive rent-free room in the residence hall during the employment period, as well as a meal plan.

Pre-requisites for Position (Qualifications Standards)

Education and experience necessary for the rigors of the position, such as a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution and two years related work experience, or associate’s degree and three years related experience, or an applicable combination of education and experience necessary for the responsibilities of the position.  Live-in residence life experience and/or college student development experience preferred.

Applicant must demonstrate excellent oral and written communications skills. Ability to assume a high level of responsibility for managing one’s own work. Follow detailed directions and processes, maintain confidentiality, ability to engage and develop a positive rapport with students, and proficiency in basic computer skills.

The position

The Administrative Technician works in support of the business or College operations at a commuter campus or work units. These positions are typically found at commuter campus but may appear within work units at residential campuses or central services. The primary role is in support of academic or student services functions. Duties are performed at a fully operational level but with more complexity, using either established standard guidelines and/or procedural methods, or improvising solutions and alternatives.

This is a part-time position with a maximum of 28 hours per week.  The CMC work week is Saturday through Friday.

Pre-requisites for Position (Qualifications Standards)

Education and experience sufficient for the rigors of the position. Examples may include: Associate’s degree in the area of tutoring or a closely related area. Bachelor’s degree preferred. A grade of B or higher in all course(s) and/or academic subject areas for which tutoring services will be offered. A cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher in all post-secondary course work. Experience in the field: Teaching/tutoring experience, particularly in post-secondary courses, preferred. Other relevant work experience that demonstrates either knowledge of the content or the ability to work with students or the ability to communicate ideas effectively. Individuals with Associate’s degree in career and technical fields would be considered equivalent education. Or equivalent education and experience that will provide the necessary knowledge, skill and abilities to perform the functions of the position.

The Position

Under the direction of campus leadership, the Peer Tutor position provides a welcoming and supportive environment for students to better understand course material. The peer tutor helps clarify course content and models successful study strategies for their fellow peers. Work hours may fluctuate depending on scheduled activities and student needs.

This is a part-time position which is limited to 28 hours per CMC’s workweek. CMC’s workweek is Saturday through Friday.

The position

Under the supervision of a designated supervisor, the Enrollment Services Specialist is responsible for assisting with enrollment, registration, financial aid and recordkeeping procedures in cooperation with faculty and administration at assigned campus. Colorado Mountain College campuses are located in Aspen, Carbondale, Breckenridge, Dillon, Steamboat Springs, Glenwood Springs, Glenwood Springs-Spring Valley, Leadville, Rifle, the Vail Valley, and Salida. Of these locations, three are residential—Spring Valley, Leadville, and Steamboat Springs — and students in Breckenridge have access to college-owned off-campus housing. CMC campuses are close-knit communities, on average serving between 1,000 – 2,000 students.

The majority of the college’s financial support comes from local property taxes, not tuition or state revenues.  Consequently, CMC is uniquely positioned to be entrepreneurial, nimble, mission-focused, and responsive to community and workforce needs. The college’s Central Services administrative office, which provides administrative support to all campus locations, is located in historic downtown Glenwood Springs, the town from which CMC originally launched in 1965.

The position

Full time faculty positions begin in August 2022 with a 30 credit hour (170 day contract per Board Policy 4.12) teaching load annually.

The full-time faculty position will teach a variety of Human Services courses including: psychology, mental health/counseling/behavioral health, social work, and if qualified, addiction studies.

Of special interest for this position is a candidate with experience and knowledge in human services, mental health, counseling, addictions, and/or social work fields in rural communities.

Teaching responsibilities include: teach full course load as assigned, evaluate courses and assess student learning, meet established course, program and learning outcomes, comply with guidelines and policies, maintain office hours per established standards, develop rapport with students, assist with and participate in advising, orientation and registration activities, and building and maintaining community partnerships for student application of skills. This position will teach in multiple modalities including in-person face to face, hybrid, and Livestream/distance.

This position reports to the Dean and work directly with the Program Director, other program faculty, and faculty from other disciplines to develop and sustain a top-quality human services program. Additionally, this position will work with the Assistant Dean of Instruction for course supports to best meet student needs.

CMC Faculty engage in activities of service to students, discipline, as well as college and the community. Activities include but are not limited to: serving on campus and college committees; participating in relevant projects; mentoring peers; performing assessment activities including but not limited to self, peers, students and  program review; engaging in student organization, recruiting and retention activities;  and developing community partnerships that facilitate experiential learning opportunities for students.

This is a new position for a new Bachelor of Arts in Human Services. Critical to this position are collaborative, innovative skills in working with supervisors, peers, students and community members.

Salary range: $71,039.61 - $86,526.18 depending upon education and experience. Requirements:

Qualified candidates must be credentialed to teach in this program, or eligible to be credentialed. Examples of ideal qualifications include:

A minimum of a Master’s degree in Human Services, Counseling, Behavioral Studies, or Addictions, Psychology, Social Work or closely related field, or a Master’s degree and a minimum of 18 graduate credits in a Human Services related field. Minimum of one-year full-time teaching experience at the college level, or the equivalent as an adjunct instructor. PhD or EdD preferred. Documented 3 years’ experience working in related direct service field(s) preferred.
