CMC is a comprehensive, public, open-access dual-mission institution offering 136 academic programs ranging from specialized certificates to associate and bachelor’s degrees, a wide range of online, non-credit and lifelong learning courses, as well as extensive concurrent enrollment opportunities in close partnership with neighboring school districts.

Over 15,000 students attend CMC annually, and 40% of degree-seeking students earn a certificate or degree every year. The college’s Latinx enrollment has doubled in six years to 28%, making CMC a federally designated Hispanic Serving Institution (HSI). CMC courses are highly personal and many are highly experiential by design, each with a maximum registration of 25 students.

Colorado Mountain College campuses are located in Aspen, Carbondale, Breckenridge, Dillon, Steamboat Springs, Glenwood Springs, Glenwood Springs-Spring Valley, Leadville, Rifle, the Vail Valley, and Salida. Of these locations, three are residential—Spring Valley, Leadville, and Steamboat Springs — and students in Breckenridge have access to college-owned off-campus housing. The position

The Administrative Technician works in support of the business or College operations. The primary role is in support of academic or student services functions for the Health Science & Public Safety Programs at the Edwards Campus. Duties are performed using either established standard guidelines and/or procedural methods, or improvising solutions and alternatives.

The position

This position facilitates student learning by helping to clarify specific course content and promoting/modeling the use of appropriate study strategies.

This is a part-time position which is limited to 28 hours per CMC’s workweek. CMC’s workweek is Saturday through Friday.

A grade of B or higher in all course(s) and/or academic subject areas for which tutoring services will be offered. A cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher in all post-secondary course work. Experience in the field: Teaching/tutoring experience, particularly in post-secondary courses, preferred. Other relevant work experience that demonstrates either knowledge of the content or the ability to work with students or the ability to communicate ideas effectively. Individuals with Associate’s degree in career and technical fields would be considered equivalent education. Or equivalent education and experience that will provide the necessary knowledge, skill and abilities to perform the functions of the position.

The position

Full time faculty positions begin in as soon as possible with a 30-credit hour (170-day contract per Board Policy 4.12) teaching load annually. This position will include a mandatory additional 15-credit (approx. 85-day) for program development administrative duties during the first year which will be paid in the form of an overload contract. This position’s first year will be fully administrative for program proposal, curriculum development, and accreditation application through approval stages. The position in year two and beyond may include up to 9 credits administrative release for college-wide oversight duties for the Radiology Technician Program, which includes administrative and compliance duties with state and national accreditation bodies. Continued opportunities for additional overload credits/contracts will be assessed through the program development and instructional needs of the program.

CMC is seeking an experienced professional and dynamic educator to be the lead instructor in the emerging Radiology Technology Program. The successful candidate will work to strengthen partnerships with local employers such as hospitals and health care agencies. Lead faculty in this discipline work with campus administrative staff to maintain and purchase supplies, coordinate testing and state required documentation, assist in the collection of student records for clinical experiences, and identify local opportunities for clinical partnerships.

With reassignment time granted, this faculty position serves as Program Chair and includes program oversight in coordination with the Dean of Nursing, Health Science, Public Safety, Wellness, and Outdoor Studies in accordance with CMC’s Curriculum and Instruction Manual. Duties include maintaining standards established by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists and ensuring compliance with the guidelines and regulations mandated by State agencies, and other accrediting organizations.

Teaching responsibilities expected of all faculty include: teach course load as assigned, evaluate courses and assess student learning, meet established course, program and learning outcomes, comply with guidelines and policies, maintain office hours per established standards, develop rapport with students, assist with and participate in advising, orientation and registration activities.

CMC Faculty are expected to engage in service activities such as campus and college committees, participation in relevant projects, mentor peers, participate in and assist with assessment activities, program review, student organization, recruiting and retention.

Initial hiring salary range $86,150.46 - $101,637.03* depending upon education and experience which comes in the form of a Base Faculty Salary $71,039.61 - $86,526.18 depending upon education and experience and additional stipend paid on an overload administrative contract of 15-credits approximated at $15,110.85. Base salary carries forward to year 2 and 3 of term position with possible varying (not guaranteed) overload credit opportunities.

Requirements:

Qualified candidates must be credentialed to teach in this program, or eligible to be credentialed. Examples of ideal qualifications include:

A minimum of an Associate’s Degree from a regionally accredited college or university and 4,000 hours of verified, paid direct work experience in the past five years is required. Bachelor’s Degree preferred. Degree and previous teaching/training in directly related field preferred.

Must hold a current unrestricted certification and active registration with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in Radiography (R) or Radiologist Assistant (R.R.A.). Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association required. Knowledge of academic administration, curriculum development, and business planning preferred.

The position

Full time faculty positions begin in August 2023 with a 30 credit hour (170 day contract per Board Policy 4.12) teaching load annually. This position may include up to 9 credits administrative release for college-wide oversight duties for the Paramedic Program, which includes administrative and compliance duties with state and national accreditation bodies.

CMC is seeking an experienced EMS professional and dynamic educator to be the EAD instructor in the Paramedic Program. Teaching duties may extend to: EMT-B, EMT-B Refresher, Advanced EMT, Paramedic EMT Labs and/or Refreshers, Basic EKG, IV/IO Therapy, and related classes. The successful candidate will work to strengthen partnerships with local employers such as hospitals, health care agencies, and the local ski areas. Lead faculty in this discipline additionally facilitate recruiting, training, and scheduling of EMT Skills Assistant staff and Adjunct faculty. They also maintain and purchase supplies, coordinate testing and state required documentation, assist in the collection of student records for clinical experiences, and identify local opportunities for clinical partnerships in conjunction with the college-wide EMS Clinical Coordinator.

This position also serves as the faculty leader and reporting liaison for Committee on Accreditation of Educational Programs for the Emergency Medical Services Professions (CoAEMSP), Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP), National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT), and State of Colorado Dept of Public Health and environment (CDPHE).Teaching responsibilities expected of all faculty include: teach course load as assigned, evaluate courses and assess student learning, meet established course, program and learning outcomes, comply with guidelines and policies, maintain office hours per established standards, develop rapport with students, assist with and participate in advising, orientation and registration activities.

Program instruction includes additional coordination, travel, and record management, such as immunization, background check, fingerprints, and partnership orientation.  These duties include planning for classroom, laboratory and clinical learning experiences and confirming written agreements between the administration of the program and outside providers of clinical resources. Faculty also assist in providing for the safe keeping of a system of permanent records and reports essential to the operation of the program and in coordinating with clinical partners to meet needs for on-site direct supervision.

CMC Faculty are expected to engage in service activities such as campus and college committees, participation in relevant projects, mentor peers, participate in and assist with assessment activities, program review, student organization, recruiting and retention.

Salary range: $71,039.61 - $86,526.18 depending upon education and experience. Requirements:

Qualified candidates must be credentialed to teach in this program, or eligible to be credentialed. Examples of ideal qualifications include:

Paramedic Program Director (as per CAAHEP) should have a minimum of a Bachelor's degree and 4,000 hours paid work experience in the past five years, have field experience in the delivery of out-of-hospital emergency care, have academic training and preparation related to emergency medical services at least equivalent to that of a paramedic, and be knowledgeable about the current versions of the National EMS Scope of Practice and National EMS Education Standards, and about evidenced-informed clinical practice. Master’s degree preferred. Nationally Registered EMT – Paramedic or State of Colorado EMT – Paramedic Certified required. AHA BLS Instructor preferred. Experience with wilderness medicine or remote EMS care is a plus. Successful completion of an EMS Instructor Course with Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE) Division of EMS Administration or National Association of EMS Educators (or completion of this course within the provisional period of the position) required.

Professional  Interests

Although her home campus is Summit, she also serves the Edwards and Leadville campuses. Bethany has been a chemistry teacher for 10 years. She grew up in Summit County, CO and after graduating from Summit High school she went on to earn a B.A. in Chemistry from Azusa Pacific University. Bethany worked as a Peer-Led Team Leader where she served as a tutor for General Chemistry students. Moreover, she was on a research team during her junior and senior years working on codon changes in plasmid DNA for the proteins PAH1 and PAH2.

After graduating, Bethany became a chemistry teacher at a school with an international program, where roughly 60% of the students were international from China or South Korea. Working there for 5 years, she developed curriculum for both Chemistry and AP Chemistry and learned how to provide instruction for English Language Learners. In 2017, Bethany and her husband (also a Summit County native), felt called to move back to their hometown where Bethany began working at her alma mater of Summit High School. Her time at Summit High School continued to strengthen her as a teacher as well as develop her inquiry-based curriculum. During this time, she also began working on her masters and graduated in Dec. 2021 with a M.S. in Chemistry Education. She then instructed a CMC CEPA General Chemistry 1111/1112 class at the high school.

"Everything is chemistry”, is a motto of Bethany’s. This is her mindset for all chemistry classes, that chemistry is foundational to all other sciences and the world itself. She likes to remind her students of this and teach in a way that helps students draw connections to the world around them and the other classes they are taking. She believes this is how she can give chemistry life and transform the subject from what is in the textbook to something far more interesting to students.

Since transitioning from adjunct to full time faculty in 2022, Bethany has loved to provide chemistry education that serves as a foundation to all other science classes that a student will be taking while in their program.

Personal Interests

Bethany and her husband have two boys and they love spending time pulling their boys in a Burley, on skis in the winter and on a bike in the summer. She also spends summers rowing on Lake Dillon and going camping. Whenever she has free time, Bethany loves to activate her creative side through crafting, sewing, painting, and other designing.
