CMC Leadville Speaker Series presents ‘Nurturing Understanding’

Jan. 23, 2023 – Colorado Mountain College Leadville’s Speaker Series will present “Nurturing Understanding: Listening for Change” at the Leadville campus on Jan. 30.

The talk will feature Jesús Calderón, a principal with Cercanía Consulting, which was founded in 2021 in Englewood, Colorado. Calderón will focus on how media and culture influence identity creation and performance within and between underrepresented communities – especially in the Latino and Latina community.

Calderón is a first-generation college graduate who has deep experience and scholarly knowledge about Latino and Latina mentoring networks in Colorado educational contexts. Calderón completed a bachelor’s degree and master’s degree in communication studies and a minor in political science from Colorado State University and an associate degree in 2017 with a communication designation from the Community College of Aurora.

“Nurturing Understanding: Listening for Change” will take place from 6:30-7:45 p.m. in the Room 401, Climax Molybdenum Center, CMC Leadville, 901 S. Highway 24, 719-486-2015. Admission is free.
