The Mission of Colorado Mountain College’s Early Childhood Education Program is to provide quality Higher Education Teacher Preparation Training to its’ communities that is responsive to:
- Local and state ECE stakeholder and professional development needs for those serving children birth through age eight and their families
- National and International best practice research and trends
- Student access and success
- The overall college mission
Our Teacher Preparation strives to prepare ECE teachers who:
- Research and use evidence based practices that create positive child outcomes
- Base their work on theory relevant to today’s practices
- Honor the uniqueness of children and families
- Dedicate themselves to creating positive, reciprocal relationships and partnerships with children and their families
- Respond to the unique learning needs of children
- Use assessment as a process to inform practice
- Facilitate the development of the whole child with a focus on children’s emotional needs as they develop in all areas
- Behave professionally and are connected to the ECE profession
- Are life-long learners
- Are experienced in teaching all ages 0-8 and in a variety of setting
- Promote and use quality standards
