Main Job Functions:
Under the supervision of the Program Director, this position assists with the care of animals and facilities at Vet Tech. The Animal Care Assistant supports the veterinarians and veterinary technicians in ensuring quality veterinary care for all resident animals and ensures a safe and effective learning environment.
Job Duties:
Cleaning and maintenance of all animal enclosures. Stocking of animal feed, including heavy bags and bales of hay. Grooming and cleaning of animals. Grounds keeping for the facilities.
Working Conditions:
This position requires constant sitting, occasional walking, standing and driving; occasional handling objects, pushing/pulling; frequent reaching with hands/arms, and use of finger movements; occasional lifting, carrying, pushing or pulling objects up to 50 lbs. Constant written and oral communication and the ability to reason and analyze and perform calculations occasionally. Work is performed using a computer and standard office equipment daily and driving a vehicle occasionally. Minimum Qualifications:
Education and experience are sufficient to meet the rigors of the position. Examples may include a High School Diploma/GED and 1 year of related work experience. Knowledge of large animals is preferred but not required. Must be a current student at CMC or a student who has graduated from the program.
