Main Job Functions:
The functions of the barista position are to operate the CMC Campus Cafe in accordance with established guidelines to provide guests with expertly prepared coffee beverages and snacks, exceptional customer service, and to maintain a clean, efficient and well-stocked workstation. Duties: prepare and serve coffee beverages; operate the Toast POS system for order processing; engage with customers to provide excellent customer service including taking accurate orders and addressing concerns; maintain cleanliness and organization of the coffee shop while adhering to food safety standards during food prep and handling; manage time effectively during busy periods to ensure timely quality service; assist in inventory management including restocking and monitoring product freshness; collaborate to create a positive work environment.
Working Conditions:
This position requires constant sitting, occasional walking, standing and driving; occasional handling objects, pushing/pulling; frequent reaching with hands/arms, and use of finger movements; occasional lifting, carrying, pushing or pulling objects up to 50 lbs. Constant written and oral communication and the ability to reason and analyze and perform calculations occasionally. Work is performed using a computer and standard office equipment daily and driving a vehicle occasionally. Minimum Qualifications:
Previous barista experience or food industry experience is preferred but not required. Applicant should have strong customer service skills with the ability to engage positively with customers OR an open attitude with willingness to learn these skills; basic math skills for cash handling; willingness to learn food safety practices and food prep techniques; excellent time management skills to handle multiple tasks efficiently; and a passion for serving others with an eagerness to learn new skills. This position requires frequent standing, handling objects and frequent reaching with hands, arms and fingers, occasional lifting, carrying, pushing or pulling objects up to 50 lbs.
