Main Job Functions:

The main functions of the barista position are to operate the CMC Campus Cafe in accordance with established guidelines to provide guests with expertly prepared coffee beverages and snacks, exceptional customer service, and to maintain a clean, efficient, and well-stocked workstation.

Job Duties:

Prepare and serve a variety of coffee beverages and food items with precision and care. Operate the Toast POS system efficiently for order processing and cash handling. Engage with customers to provide excellent service, taking orders accurately and addressing any inquiries or concerns. Maintain cleanliness and organization of the coffee shop, adhering to food safety standards during food preparation and handling. Manage time effectively during busy periods to ensure timely service without compromising quality. Assist in inventory management, including restocking supplies and monitoring product freshness. Collaborate with team members and CMC faculty and students to create a positive work environment and enhance overall customer satisfaction and CMC campus culture.

Working Conditions:

This position requires constant sitting, occasional walking, standing and driving; occasional handling objects, pushing/pulling; frequent reaching with hands/arms, and use of finger movements; occasional lifting, carrying, pushing or pulling objects up to 50 lbs. Constant written and oral communication and the ability to reason and analyze and perform calculations occasionally. Work is performed using a computer and standard office equipment daily and driving a vehicle occasionally. Minimum Qualifications:

Previous barista experience or experience in the food industry is preferred but not required. Strong customer service skills with the ability to engage positively with customers OR an open attitude and willingness to learn these skills. Basic math skills for cash handling. Willingness to learn food safety practices and food preparation techniques. Excellent time management skills to handle multiple tasks efficiently. Flexible schedule. A passion for serving others, with an eagerness to learn.
