Main Job Functions:
The Front Desk Administrative Work-Study is a position at the Summit CMC campuses where a student will help staff the front desk which includes answering student questions in person, email, and phone, to help ensure a positive enrollment experience, and aid in student retention.
Job Duties:
Under the direction of campus Student Affairs leadership, the Front Desk Administrative Work-study is responsible for enthusiastically staffing the front office, answering phones, sending emails, making phone calls, providing personalized assistance to all walk-in visitors, and delivering general customer service to students, staff, and faculty. Often the front desk is responsible for making technology work, cleaning up small messes, turning on the lights, stocking food, making coffee, cleaning cups, checking the post office, giving directions, assisting with the copier, setting up and cleaning up special events, helping find office supplies, and to generally be the center of all campus activity. The role requires the ability to work collaboratively with applicants, students, faculty, staff, and administration at Summit County CMC campuses.
Working Conditions:
This position requires constant sitting, occasional walking, standing and driving; occasional handling objects, pushing/pulling; frequent reaching with hands/arms, and use of finger movements; occasional lifting, carrying, pushing or pulling objects up to 50 lbs. Constant written and oral communication and the ability to reason and analyze and perform calculations occasionally. Work is performed using a computer and standard office equipment daily and driving a vehicle occasionally. Minimum Qualifications:
Personable, positive, punctual, and customer service oriented are the skills that will aid in making the Front Desk Administrative position flourish. Basic knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet software, email, and general technology savvy are necessary skills. Spanish or French speaking skills preferred. Applicants need to have the ability to work productively in a busy and distracting environment. As well as being quick to learn new concepts and willingness to lean into helping students grow.
