Main Job Functions:
Under the direction of the Assistant Dean of Instruction and Outdoor Program Logistics Specialist (OPLS), this work study is a part-time position that will assist in Gear Room operations, field course preparation, equipment maintenance, and student check out processes. This position will be hands-on in maintaining, distributing and receiving all gear that enters the field. Works to maintain the organization and cleanliness of the Gear Room, while being available for student gear needs by holding regular hours. Duties include and are not limited to; checking and receiving gear for course specific trips, repairing and maintaining gear, organization of gear storage systems, cleaning solid gear, assisting in inventory counts and updating records, processing gear in a timely manner to redistribute.
Working Conditions:
This position requires constant sitting, occasional walking, standing and driving; occasional handling objects, pushing/pulling; frequent reaching with hands/arms, and use of finger movements; occasional lifting, carrying, pushing or pulling objects up to 50 lbs. Constant written and oral communication and the ability to reason and analyze and perform calculations occasionally. Work is performed using a computer and standard office equipment daily and driving a vehicle occasionally. Minimum Qualifications:
Student must be a full-time or part time enrolled CMC student, completed a minimum of one semester of college, preferably at Colorado Mountain College and in Outdoor Education, previous enrollment of an OUT. course is also preferred. Applicants need to be in good academic standing (cumulative GPA above 2.0). General knowledge of Colorado Mountain College’s Outdoor Education program. General knowledge of course structure, gear function, and baseline cleanliness. Previous use of Excel or Google Sheets; proficiency with email, written and oral communication. Ability to assume a high level of responsibility for managing one’s own work. Follow detailed directions and processes, ability to engage and develop a positive rapport with students
