Main Job Functions:

Under the direction of the Recreation and Events Coordinator, the Recreation Assistant is responsible for providing customer service to the Field House members, students and customers during daily operations of the Field House recreation center. This position will provide direction to customers regarding access, memberships, liability waivers, payments and proper use of gym equipment. The Recreation Assistant is also responsible for monitoring the climbing wall, weight room, cardio deck, indoor track and gym floor areas to help ensure the safety of patrons, cleaning and upkeep of equipment, and enforcing facility policies.

Working Conditions:

This position requires constant sitting, occasional walking, standing and driving; occasional handling objects, pushing/pulling; frequent reaching with hands/arms, and use of finger movements; occasional lifting, carrying, pushing or pulling objects up to 50 lbs. Constant written and oral communication and the ability to reason and analyze and perform calculations occasionally. Work is performed using a computer and standard office equipment daily and driving a vehicle occasionally. Minimum Qualifications:

High school diploma/GED and 6 months of related experience or equivalent education and experience. CPR and First Aid Certification are required but can be acquired within 3 months of employment. A Wilderness First Aid/Wilderness First Responder Certification or higher is also accepted. Special Skills or abilities directly applicable to the position be a self-directed individual with a strong work ethic; possess a positive attitude, be competent to make important decisions and work well with others.
