Main Job Functions:

The Student Success Peer Mentor will serve as a student leader supporting high school students enrolled in Colorado Mountain College’s concurrent enrollment program. This role enhances the work at the local high school by providing peer-level mentorship, outreach, and guidance to help high school students: Enroll in CE courses, persist and thrive academically, and Transition to CMC after high school graduation.

Job Duties:

Serve as a positive role model and approachable peer resource for high school students. Conduct outreach to high school students to promote concurrent enrollment opportunities and establish a college going culture. Assist students with navigating CMC systems (student portal, registration steps, resources, etc.). Provide drop-in support or peer study sessions to help students succeed in their courses. Collaborate with the CE Coordinator and Manager Special Projects on outreach strategies to increase student participation and matriculation. Support recruitment and “recovery” efforts by contacting local high school graduates who have not matriculated and sharing opportunities to attend CMC. Assist with campus events, orientations, and information sessions for CE and prospective students.

Working Conditions:

This position requires constant sitting, occasional walking, standing and driving; occasional handling objects, pushing/pulling; frequent reaching with hands/arms, and use of finger movements; occasional lifting, carrying, pushing or pulling objects up to 50 lbs. Constant written and oral communication and the ability to reason and analyze and perform calculations occasionally. Work is performed using a computer and standard office equipment daily and driving a vehicle occasionally. Minimum Qualifications:

Ability to engage and build rapport with recent high school graduates and other prospective students. Strong communication and outreach skills to encourage exploration of college enrollment opportunities. Commitment to tracking student interactions accurately and maintaining strict confidentiality of student information. Flexibility to perform additional tasks in support of student success initiatives.
