Yampa Valley SCORE Business Plan Competition Hosted by Colorado Mountain College Sponsored by Startup Colorado Objective:   Encourage aspiring entrepreneurs to create a well written business plan and to present their plan to experienced business professionals for evaluation. This experience will be an educational opportunity for all and offer exposure Startup Colorado, business mentoring service Yampa Valley SCORE, Colorado Mountain College and the prize sponsors that support this program.   Prizes:   The winner of this competition will receive $6,000 in prize money. Second place winner will receive $4,000 in prize money. The first place winner will also receive three months free rent in the Yampa Valley Entrepreneurship Center, an introduction and visit with an angel investor funding company and recognition for their new business in the community. This prize is taxable income for the recipient. The City of Steamboat Springs and the Steamboat Springs Chamber Resort Association will distribute accumulated prize money donations upon the announcement of winners.   Judges:   Judges will be asked to sign conflict of interest document agreeing not to initiate a professional relationship with business plan developers through this process.   SCORE volunteers: TBD Community business leaders Judges may be changed based upon availability.   Submission Date:   Written business plans will be due by October 1, 2018. Oral presentation will occur within several weeks. All participants must sign this judging criteria document and a separate rules document to participate in this program.   Sponsorship:   The Presenting Sponsor will be the Startup Colorado. The sponsors for prizes money for 2018 are the City of Steamboat Springs, Alpine Bank and Mountain Valley Bank. Host, Colorado Mountain College is also a sponsor. Comprometidos con Nuestras

Colegio Colorado Mountain: Comprometidos con nuestras comunidades y los unos a los otros 15 de noviembre del 2016 Por Dr. Carrie Besnette Hauser Esta semana pasada, me uní a una sala llena de gente en Glenwood Springs para escuchar a aquellos que podrían verse afectados por los posibles cambios en la política federal de inmigración.  Organizado por un abogado local, la reunión estuvo llena de educadores, funcionarios electos, trabajadores gubernamentales, representantes de organizaciones sin fines de lucro y muchos estudiantes, niños y familias. Todos buscaban comprender los efectos potenciales después de las recientes elecciones nacionales y escuchar a miembros de la comunidad que expresaron temor e incertidumbre sobre el futuro. La verdad es que ninguno de nosotros sabe lo que va a cambiar – en todo caso – llegará el 20 de enero. Se hicieron muchas promesas en campaña, pero los planes reales no están claros. Lo que sí sabemos, sin embargo, es que muchos en nuestras comunidades están ansiosos. Ellos, como todos nosotros, han escuchado historias sobre aumento de intimidación en las escuelas, visto grafiti racialmente cargado en las noticias y vieron marchas de protesta por varios días en decenas de ciudades americanas. Algunos que podrían verse afectados por cambios en la ley federal han empezado a preguntar a mis colegas y a mí si aún vale el esfuerzo el colegio.  Para un defensor de toda la vida por la equidad y acceso a la universidad, encuentro este sentimiento a la vez inquietante y triste. En medio de este ambiente ansioso, quiero ofrecer información clara y precisa acerca de las leyes que rigen la matrícula y la inscripción en el Colegio Colorado Mountain y las expectativas de conducta para los afiliados con ella. Ride CMC

Ride CMC Ride CMC is a free shuttle service for CMC students, faculty, and staff. The shuttle runs between the Spring Valley Campus  and Thunder River Market (at Hwy. 82 and Co. Rd. 114) on an on-call basis only, Monday through Thursday, from 7:30am until 6pm. You now must call or text to request a ride. Ride CMC Shuttle contact number is 970-366-6349. The shuttle will only pick up riders on the hour (at the Calaway building) and 10 minutes after the hour (at Thunder River). If there are no calls or texts, the shuttle will not run at that hour. If someone has already called, no need for additional call. You must be at either the Thunder River Stop or the Calaway Stop to call/text for a pick up. Look for the Ride CMC sign. Please check the RFTA schedules below for bus service to Aspen, Carbondale, Glenwood Springs, Rifle, and other stops. The RFTA fare to Glenwood Springs is $1.00.
