The Campaign for CMC Aspen

A community vision for the campus

VISION

The importance of a local college has never been more relevant than it is today. Local college is a necessity for a community like Aspen trying to attract, educate and deploy a skilled workforce. CMC Aspen is responding.

We’re going to prove the people working hardest toward community solutions are right here on the Aspen campus. Because CMC Aspen can do more. We can aspire to give the community skilled workers, future leaders, problem solvers, and an incubator of creativity. We can house students, grow local talent, and match people who need opportunity with opportunity in Aspen. We can prepare the people who make Aspen work.

To support this vision and the Aspen community and its workforce needs into the future CMC must:

  • Respond to the workforce-in-waiting
  • Grow local talent by expanding affordable and accessible academic programming
  • Build pioneering student housing that blends living, learning, and working
  • Re-imagine our valley as a hub of talent
  • Ensure that diverse populations get the knowledge and skills that build strong communities
  • Support lifelong learners pushing the limits to explore new ideas

WHAT INSPIRES US

CMC’s commitment to being the most innovative and inclusive student-centered college in the nation, elevating the economic, social, cultural and environmental vitality of our beautiful Rocky Mountain communities.

AN EDUCATION THAT IS

  • A thriving resort community powered by an educated and skilled workforce
  • Affordable and accessible programming
  • Center for innovation and creativity
  • Lifelong learners pushing limits to new ideas
  • Innovative student housing blending living, learning and working

ABOUT CMC ASPEN CAMPUS CAMPAIGN

In May 2019, the Colorado Mountain College Board of Trustees unanimously approved a resolution to advance major facility and programmatic improvements at the Aspen campus. It has been nearly two decades since the board last invested in capital improvements at the Aspen campus.

The board’s resolution follows years of discussing and prioritizing capital projects across the college’s multi-campus system. College leadership will begin to define capital improvements and a financing plan for the campus.

OUR PATH FORWARD

Hire a design team to create a master plan, conduct an impact study, and review infrastructure to further pinpoint preferred outcomes for the physical campus including investigation of alternative locations for parking and residential buildings.

Create revised conceptual plans that reflect input received to date and solicit community and partner feedback on these revised plans.

Continue to foster strong community partnerships to serve the needs of Aspen’s future workforce.
