The college

CMC is a comprehensive, public, open-access dual-mission institution offering 136 academic programs ranging from specialized certificates to associate and bachelor’s degrees, a wide range of online, non-credit and lifelong learning courses, as well as extensive concurrent enrollment opportunities in close partnership with neighboring school districts.

Over 15,000 students attend CMC annually, and 40% of degree-seeking students earn a certificate or degree every year. The college’s Latinx enrollment has doubled in six years to 28%, making CMC a federally designated Hispanic Serving Institution (HSI). CMC courses are highly personal and many are highly experiential by design, each with a maximum registration of 25 students.

Colorado Mountain College campuses are located in Aspen, Carbondale, Breckenridge, Dillon, Steamboat Springs, Glenwood Springs, Glenwood Springs-Spring Valley, Leadville, Rifle, the Vail Valley, and Salida. Of these locations, three are residential—Spring Valley, Leadville, and Steamboat Springs — and students in Breckenridge have access to college-owned off-campus housing. CMC campuses are close-knit communities, on average serving between 1,000 – 2,000 students.

The majority of the college’s financial support comes from local property taxes, not tuition or state revenues.  Consequently, CMC is uniquely positioned to be entrepreneurial, nimble, mission-focused, and responsive to community and workforce needs. The college’s Central Services administrative office, which provides administrative support to all campus locations, is located in historic downtown Glenwood Springs, the town from which CMC originally launched in 1965.

The position

Under the general supervision of a designated campus administrator, the Campus Coordinator of Enrollment Services serves in a leadership role for enrollment and registration. This position is responsible for departmental coordination to ensure successful and accurate enrollment and registration for students which requires integration and coordination with academic and student services, financial aid, testing, scholarships and CEPA.

The position requires a high level of independent action and technical knowledge focused on enrollment, registration, administrative and support service duties.  Determines procedural methods of work, coordinates and supervises phases of work of others.

This position may require travel to the Carbondale campus as well as coordinator responsibilities for the Carbondale Campus front desk team.

Pre-requisites for Position (Qualifications Standards)

Education and experience sufficient for the rigors of the position. Examples may include a Bachelor’s Degree and three years related experience, or equivalent education and experience that will provide the necessary knowledge, skill and abilities to perform the functions of the position.

Special Skills or abilities related to position: work cooperatively with internal and external parties; develop and organize events; strong written, verbal, and presentation skills; analytical and interpersonal skills; and the ability to multitask.

Knowledge of: current principles, practices, and trends in admissions, marketing, and higher education. Variety of standard administrative and business methods and procedures; standard Microsoft Office software. Familiarity with software such as Access, Publisher, Photoshop, and Indesign beneficial.

Ability to: read, write, speak, and understand English well; operate variety of office equipment; proficient in computer applications, including word processing, spreadsheets and electronic mail; multi-task; meet deadlines; strong verbal, organizational, and interpersonal skills.

The position

Under the direction of the Lead Art Faculty and Associate Dean, the Lab Assistant (ART), helps with the operations of the ceramics, studio art, digital fabrication lab and the art gallery. The Lab Assistant is responsible for organizing studio materials for instruction, mixing glazes, inventorying materials and monitoring supplies, maintenance of all studio equipment including kilns and digital fabrication, receiving materials and rotating clay stock and assisting in the installation of art exhibitions. The Art Lab Assistant will also maintain and update SDS data sheets and other studio safety documents that includes lab procedures and safety protocols. An hourly time sheet is required. Schedules will be arranged on a weekly basis with the lead faculty and will change according to the needs of the programs.

This is a part-time position which is limited to 28 hours per CMC’s workweek. CMC’s workweek is Saturday through Friday

The position

CMC Aspen opens 'Shared Earth' gallery exhibit

Reception June 17 to feature over 50 ceramic artists from Colorado's Western Slope

Colorado Mountain College Aspen will host an opening reception on June 17 for “Shared Earth: Ceramics of the Western Slope of Colorado,” an exhibit featuring the work of over 50 regional artists.

This inclusive exhibition focuses on artists who live on the western side of Colorado’s Continental Divide including Grand Junction, Rifle, the Roaring Fork Valley, Aspen and beyond. Showcased are all levels of makers whose primary medium is clay. Among the artists featured are Andre Wille, Dianne Kenney, Doug Rhinehart and Yan Kong, among many others.

“In a time when the world seems divided, let us find a common ground, celebrate community and our shared passion for clay,” said K Rhynus Cesark, CMC Aspen Gallery director, associate art professor and the exhibit’s curator.

“Shared Earth” will open with a reception from 3-7 p.m. on June 17. Admission is free, and the public is welcome and encouraged to attend. The exhibit will remain at the campus through Sept. 3. Gallery hours vary, so plan your visit by calling ahead.
