Stephanie Stocking | Silver | Interpretive Eye Category
Stephanie Stocking's image, 'Cisco Remains', won the silver award in the Interpretive Eye Category. From Stephanie's notes about the image:
The relics of the once inhabited town of Cisco, Utah provide visitors a glimpse at the effects of economic downturn, the decline of the locomotive, and the construction of the nearby Interstate 70 that bypasses the town. Once a bustling railroad stop in the midst of sheep herding and ranching country, Cisco’s crumbling buildings provide a stop for curious photographers and adventurers on their way to or from Moab and Utah’s National Parks.
Dustin Gregory | Award of Excellence | Illustration
Dustin Gregory won an Award of Excellence for his photo illustration, 'Layers of Time: Day to Night in Canyonlands.' From Dustin's notes about the image:
A conceptual composite inspired by Stepen Wilkes Day to Night series. This is a spot that is very special to me and this image blends captures taken over a two day period from this very location. The base image contains the storm cloud/rainbow and the night sky and lightning strikes were captured on adjacent evenings. A unique representation of time in a place where millions of years of geologic history is laid before you. All blended together in Photoshop.
