Surgical Technologist Curriculum

First Year Coursework

In your first year, you will gain the foundational knowledge needed for not only Surgical Technologist, but a variety of healthcare fields. You have the flexibility of both online and in-person courses at your local CMC campus to complete your first year of coursework.

Students who have taken some of these courses previously may be eligible for transfer credit and should make an appointment with an advisor at their local CMC campus. Note, science courses more than 7 years old will not transfer.

  • Biology (prerequisite for Anatomy and Physiology I and Microbiology)
  • Human Anatomy/Phys I with Lab

Second Year Coursework

Through a relationship with both Vail Health and Front Range Community College, you will have state-of- the-art facilities, expert instructors and coursework designed to prepare you for a career as a surgical technician. While online flexibility is still available, the clinical component may require some travel.

When not online or in the clinical setting, classes will be held at CMC Vail Valley at Edwards, but students will officially be enrolled at Front Range Community College for the second year.

This partnership ensures diversity in the classroom and includes instruction designed to both prepare and enable students to sit for the Certified Surgical Technician Exam offered through The National Board of Surgical Technologist and Surgical Assisting.
