Jimmy Arbour | After graduating as an Accounting major from Louisiana State University, I began my career as a CPA with the Big 8 firm Deloitte, Haskins & Sells. I left public accounting after nine years when I relocated from Louisiana to Texas. I continued my career in a variety of financial positions in industry, including Corporate Controller of an energy company and Chief Financial & Administrative Officer of a private, German-owned chemical company. I am now retired and enjoying being able to “give back” to those beginning their Finance and Accounting education. | Accounting, Business, Management | jgarbour@coloradomtn.edu | https://outlook.office365.com/owa/calendar/VirtualAccountingBusinessTutoring@coloradomtn.onmicrosoft.com/bookings/ | - | Make an Appointment | Make an Appointment Edwards campus Room 205 |

Adam Bogomol | Hi all. I’m a Radiologist recently transplanted from New York currently between jobs. I’ve been coming to the Vail Valley for years on vacation and finally decided to make a change and move here permanently. I love it here and all the new opportunities available moving from a large city. I’m really enjoying all the outdoor activities and am looking forward to doing a lot of fishing, tennis and skiing. I vividly remember the challenges of being a college student. As a Radiologist I have an extensive background in the sciences and am looking forward to helping eager students as much as I can. | Anatomy and Physiology, Biology | abogomol@coloradomtn.edu | Tue 11am-4pm Edwards campus Room 205 Wed 11am-4pm Edwards campus Room 205 Thu 11am-4pm Edwards campus Room 205 |

Max Chadwick | Hi there! My name is Max and I'm a video editor and photographer currently taking courses here at CMC Spring Valley. In the past, I’ve worked as a stream editor, a photojournalist, and a freelance photographer, but more recently I’ve been focusing on my personal creative work in photography, hence why I’m taking classes here at CMC! I’m currently creating a body of work utilizing photo manipulation to create horror pictures. In making art like this, I’ve become fluent in several of the Adobe applications. So if you need any help when it comes to media/digital arts feel free to send me an email and we can schedule a time to set up a Zoom call or meet up on campus. | Adobe Creative Suite, Photography | mmchadwick@mail.coloradomtn.edu | Email for appointment |

Onyx Degataga | Hello, my name is Onyx Degataga and I am a recent CMC graduate in the Outdoor Education/GIS program. I am endlessly fascinated by the life-sustaining systems and interrelated processes of Ecology, so I am working on obtaining my bachelor’s degree in Ecosystem Science and Stewardship on the Spring Valley campus. My interests and research are primarily in biogeochemical processes, combining everything we know about elements and how nutrient cycling impacts soil health (and subsequently, the rest of the ecosystem). My goal is to clearly lay out the foundational knowledge of Biology and Chemistry, and what you need to know to dive deeper (if you should so choose to). I will meet you where you’re at with your goals in mind to help facilitate your educational journey and look forward to meeting you! | Biology, Chemistry | Tue 4pm-6pm Spring Valley Quigley 115 Thu 2pm-4pm Spring Valley Quigley 115 |

Taiyō Takanashi Forbes | I am fascinated by the pursuit of knowledge, and the endeavours of science and engineering. I have always been fond of the question “why,” throughout my life I have been curious about the mechanisms which describe the world around us. As a student of engineering and poetry, I view this cosmological composition to be choreographed elementary particles that have danced their way into forming us. However, I have asked “why” so much I am still in college. I began as a piano major, hoping to become a professor. I then asked, “why not medicine?” I proceeded to change my major to biochemistry with the goal of becoming a neurosurgeon. I was invited to study as a cancer researcher, though I then asked “why not physics/engineering.” With that, I took an internship with a Caltech PhD, and found myself studying Aerospace Engineering. My life’s journey is analogous to Homer’s Odyssey; I’ve transferred twice, I’ve met many fascinating people, and I’ve taken down a cyclops. And, at the end of this journey which has many more years to come, I hope to look back with absurdity and laughter. | Algebra, Math for Liberal Arts, Calculus 1, Calculus 2, Calculus 3, Statistics, Physics, Chemistry, Anatomy and Physiology, Writing in any class | ejforbes@coloradomtn.edu | https://coloradomtn-edu.zoom.us/j/6613770540 | https://outlook.office365.com/owa/calendar/VirtualTutoringTaiyTakanashiForbes@coloradomtn.onmicrosoft.com/bookings/ | Join me at these times Sat 12pm-3pm Sun 12pm-3pm |

Leslie Gumbrecht | I truly believe that one of the greatest catalysts of change is the power of the written word. From Henry David Thoreau and John Muir to Peter Singer and Barbara Kingsolver, words on paper have sparked real movements – movements that have significantly changed the way that people interact with their world. I also believe that deep self-reflection and contemplation are the greatest means of shifting our world’s consciousness. Vietnamese Buddhist monk Thich Nhat Hanh writes that “although attempting to bring about world peace through the internal transformation of individuals is difficult, it is the only way.” I see my role as a writing instructor as guiding students down that path of internal transformation through the writing process. My husband Bob Gumbrecht also teaches at CMC—he's in the Political Science department. Jeff Runyon | My name is Jeffrey Runyon, Professor of English and Literature at the Leadville Campus and Director of The CWiL. Though I live in Buena Vista, I consider the whole Arkansas Valley to be my chosen home. In my fifteen years at CMC’s Leadville Campus, I have taught over 20 different courses in composition, rhetoric, research, poetry, fiction, ancient literature, modern literature, and mythology. I have advanced degrees in Literature and Creative Writing, emphasis in Poetics. As a writing coach, I can assist with any written artifact; I can also help with research and documentation. Anne Turner | I live in Montrose, on the Western Slope of Colorado with my family. In 2007, I earned a bachelor’s degree from Colorado State University in English, with a concentration on literature and composition. In 2011, I completed the secondary teaching licensure program at CSU as well. More recently, I earned a master’s degree in Online teaching. I have worked as an online teacher for over 11 years. When I’m not tutoring, my family and I enjoy spending time outdoors in all the seasons. As a student, I often struggled with how to effectively answer writing prompts and organize my thoughts into well-crafted essays. With the support of many instructors, I was able to overcome this academic challenge and now I work with secondary and post-secondary students to do the same. As a writing tutor now, I can share multiple ways to organize your thoughts into writing, regardless of the content. | Writing in any class, Education, Praxis, Reading, ESL | aturner8@coloradomtn.edu | https://cmc.webex.com/meet/aturner8 | https://outlook.office365.com/owa/calendar/VirtualTutoringAnneTurner@coloradomtn.onmicrosoft.com/bookings/ | Join me at these times Mon 11am-2pm Tue 11am-2pm Wed 11am-2pm Thu 11am-2pm Make an Appointment (times vary) |

Megan Walker | I have lived in the Yampa Valley for over a decade, raising my family, going to school, working, and adventuring. I know what it means to juggle life and work hard. I first walked through the doors of CMC when my son was just a couple of months old. Since then, I've earned an AA in Outdoor Education and a BA in Sustainability Studies from CMC, and then a Master of Environmental Management (MEM) with a focus on Building Sustainable and Resilient Communities from Western Colorado University. CMC has played an important role in my journey and helped me to discover my passion for education and community. I have taught all ages in both formal and informal settings, focusing on science-based experiential education. I enjoy helping others find meaningful connection to what matters to them, and I hope to help you find connection through your coursework! | Sustainability, Writing in any class, Environmental Sciences, Biology 1, Conservation Biology, Ecology | mjwalker@coloradomtn.edu | https://cmc.webex.com/meet/mjwalker94 | https://coloradomtn-edu.zoom.us/j/3595850014 | Mon 1:30pm-3pm Steamboat Bristol 320 Wed 1:30pm-3pm Steamboat Bristol 320 | Biology, Sustainability, Steamboat , Environmental Science | |||||

What Do Students Say About Tutoring?
When I was diagnosed with perceptual communication disorder it destroyed my confidence in my academic ability. Thankfully, the tutors at CMC helped instill confidence in me and my ability to grasp concepts that I had previously found perplexing or impossible. Not only has tutoring boosted my confidence, but it has also enabled me to excel as a student and maintain a 4.0 GPA!
