CMC Vail Valley at Edwards to hold commencement ceremony May 3 at Vilar Performing Arts Center

April 19, 2024 – Colorado Mountain College Vail Valley at Edwards graduates will participate in the campus’s class of 2024 commencement ceremony at 5 p.m. at the Vilar Performing Arts Center in Beaver Creek on May 3. Vail Valley graduates will join graduating students from all 11 of CMC’s campuses at 12 commencement ceremonies on May 3, 4 and 6.

Reflecting CMC’s range of educational offerings, students will receive bachelor's and associate degrees, certificates of occupational proficiency and workforce diplomas. Additionally, regional high school students in CMC’s concurrent enrollment program will walk alongside graduates to receive their college-level certificates and degrees.

A ceremony celebrating the campus’s high school equivalency, general education and adult high school diploma graduates was held on April 18.

Dr. Carrie Besnette Hauser, CMC president and CEO, will give the keynote address, which will signify the final commencement ceremony of Hauser’s presidency at CMC, as she’ll be stepping down from her role at the college in August.

Hauser is one of the most tenured higher education CEOs in Colorado and the longest serving president in Colorado Mountain College history. Under Hauser’s leadership, graduation rates among nearly every student group have steadily increased. The college has added student apartment buildings to its campuses, including dozens of housing units in Edwards for CMC students and Eagle County employees, where she serves as a board member of the Vail Valley Foundation. CMC has been designated a Hispanic Serving Institution by the U.S. Department of Education and Colorado’s only Dual Mission institution. Hauser also implemented the successful annexation of two new communities – Salida and Poncha Springs - into the CMC district.

The Vilar Performing Arts Center is at 68 Avondale Lane in Beaver Creek. For more information and details on Vail Valley's commencement ceremony and CMC’s other 11 ceremonies, visit Colorado Mountain College commencement ceremonies.
